Mr Nash is our PSHE Co Ordinator supported by Mrs Jaques and Mrs Edwards.
What does PSHE/BV/SMSC/RSE look like at The Richard Heathcote CP School?
At The Richard Heathcote CP School, we teach our PSHE/BV and SMSC across both key stages through our core values of:
Resilience, Respect, Equality, Tolerance, Courage, Responsibility
Democracy, Consideration, Determination, Rule of Law, Liberty
As can be seen from the above, we also weave our British Values themes throughout this area.
PSHE is taught using an assembly from Mr Nash in which the key ideas of the month are introduced, followed by class work which is then compiled in a large class book. PSHE is also timetabled and taught throughout the school. SRE will be introduced in 2020 and a new scheme for both PSHE and RSE is being developed at the time of writing.
British values are weaved throughout everything we do in school (voting, rules, awards, our 3 school rules) but is also taught in a timetabled lesson in KS2.
SMSC is taught through assembly time using our key themes and via enrichment opportunities.
Throughout all aspects of this curriculum area we encourage learning together via enrichment opportunities. Our aim is to provide a broad and balanced understanding of the following strands by teaching in discreet lessons, in assemblies, hosting events, introducing visitors, enrichment opportunities, sporting events, pupil voice, ambassador role, student council and by weaving the strands through everything we do.
